GTA6 FAQ — Release Date, Platforms & Story
Here are the most common questions about GTA6. If your question isn't listed here, check our news page for the latest updates.
Does GTA6 have microtransactions?
No — Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson confirmed there are "no monetizations in this game." That covers the single-player campaign launching November 19, 2026. Rockstar declined to comment when asked about the next GTA Online, so the promise does not extend to the multiplayer mode. The In-Game Purchases notice that appeared with the game’s age rating on 1 October 2026 is a separate and narrower claim, and it is not evidence of campaign microtransactions: the ESRB label covers extra content, upgrades, subscriptions and virtual currency, and the store listing read on 2 October 2026 already sells a separate Ultimate Edition upgrade, which is one paid extra that would satisfy it without any online mode. The same record carries no user-interaction marker at all, where GTA5’s records carry both In-Game Purchases and Users Interact.
Does GTA6 use generative AI?
No. Rob Nelson told creators at Rockstar North there is "no AI" in GTA6. The New York Times reported the game contains over 600,000 hand-made animations, versus roughly 55,000 in GTA5 and 300,000 in Red Dead Redemption 2. Take-Two does use generative AI for internal efficiency work, but not for shipped content.
How long is the GTA6 campaign?
Rob Nelson said his own playthrough ran around 80 hours including optional objectives with narrative consequences. That is roughly double the 30-40 hours typical of previous mainline GTA games, though Rockstar has not published an official figure.
Are there GTA6 limited edition controllers?
Yes. Sony revealed two GTA6 DualSense Wireless Controllers on September 3, 2026 — a White Limited Edition and a Black Limited Edition, both $84.99. Pre-orders open September 10, and they launch November 19 alongside the game. The Black edition is a PlayStation Direct exclusive in most major regions.
How many weapons can you carry in GTA6?
Two concealed handguns at all times, plus a maximum of two long guns — so one always rides on your back while you hold the other. Heavy weapons must be stored in a vehicle trunk or an Ammu-Nation locker, and stolen cars do not keep your loadout the way a personal vehicle does.
Can you use public transport in GTA6?
Yes. Leonida has buses you board at actual stops, trains, taxis, and a ride-hailing app called RydeMe. Free roam has no region locks once it opens, with unexplored map hidden behind fog of war.
Does GTA6 have a karma system?
Yes. Rockstar confirmed a Karma system for GTA6 in the August 27, 2026 Extended Look — the first in series history. In the footage, a character gains positive karma by petting a dog while Lucia loses karma after fleeing a store robbery. Rockstar has not detailed how karma affects the wider game.
What is the Criminal Profile in GTA6?
The Criminal Profile is a new GTA6 system that tracks the crimes you commit in the open world. Committing certain offenses regularly shifts your profile in that direction. Rockstar has also confirmed you can improve it by correctly throwing trash into bins.
Is the 6-star wanted level in GTA6?
Yes — Rockstar confirmed in the August 2026 Extended Look that the six-star wanted level returns after being cut from GTA5. Police also no longer appear on the minimap; you must use the new Focus mechanic to find them, and escaping requires changing clothes, haircuts, or vehicles.
Does GTA6 have bullet time?
Yes. GTA6 features a Dead Eye-style Bullet Time mode similar to Red Dead Redemption 2. When activated, time slows dramatically and weak points on enemies — head, hands and joints — are highlighted for targeted shots.
Will GTA6 run at 60fps on PS5?
Rockstar has not confirmed performance targets. The Extended Look was credited as captured "On PS5" with no Pro designation and appears to run at 30 FPS. Fans hope for a 40 FPS mode on PS5 Pro, but nothing is official yet.
Will GTA6 go on sale after launch?
Not anytime soon. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said the company preserves pricing, citing how long GTA5 held its launch price. Reports indicate GTA6 will remain at $79.99 (Standard) and $99.99 (Ultimate) through much of 2027, though individual retailers may offer limited discounts on physical copies.
When is GTA6 coming out?
GTA6 (Grand Theft Auto VI) has an official release date of November 19, 2026, launching first on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders are live since June 25, 2026. A PC version has not been announced but is expected to follow the console release.
What platforms will GTA6 support?
GTA6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC version is expected after the console release. There are currently no plans for PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch versions.
Where is GTA6 set?
GTA6 is set in the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by Florida. The main city is Vice City (modeled after Miami), along with port towns, wetlands, tropical islands, and other diverse terrain.
Who are the protagonists of GTA6?
GTA6 features a dual protagonist system with Lucia and Jason, a couple. Lucia is the first female playable protagonist in GTA series history, and their criminal partnership is the core of the story.
Will GTA6 have an online multiplayer mode?
Rockstar has not officially announced GTA6's online mode details, but based on series tradition and job listings, GTA6 will very likely include an online multiplayer mode similar to GTA Online. Stay tuned for official announcements.
How big is the GTA6 map?
Based on trailers and available information, GTA6's Leonida state map is the largest open world in GTA series history, featuring cities, towns, swamps, islands, and more. Specific area measurements will be revealed around launch.
Will GTA6 come to PC?
Based on Rockstar's historical release strategy, GTA6 will very likely get a PC version within several months to a year after the console release. GTA5's PC version arrived about 18 months after consoles — GTA6's PC window may be similar or shorter.
What game engine does GTA6 use?
GTA6 uses Rockstar's all-new RAGE 9 engine, with significant improvements in lighting, water effects, crowd density, and physics simulation over its predecessor. Visual quality approaches photorealism.
What is GTA6's age rating?
GTA6 is expected to receive an ESRB M (Mature 17+) rating, consistent with previous entries. The game contains violence, strong language, and adult content, and is suitable for players aged 17 and up.
Do I need to play previous games to understand GTA6's story?
No. Each mainline GTA game has a standalone story. GTA6 features entirely new characters and storyline, so new players can jump right in. However, familiarity with previous entries will help you appreciate Easter eggs and series traditions.
Is GTA6 on PS4 or Xbox One?
No. GTA6 is only coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced any PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch versions. The game requires current-generation hardware.
How much does GTA6 cost?
GTA6 Standard Edition costs $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition costs $99.99. Regional pricing varies — for example, in India the Standard Edition is priced at approximately Rs 5,999.
What are the GTA6 editions?
GTA6 has two editions: Standard ($79.99) and Ultimate ($99.99). Pre-orders include the Vintage Vice City Pack. The Ultimate Edition adds bonus vehicles, weapons, and exclusive in-game content. There is no Collector's Edition.
Will GTA6 have crossplay?
Crossplay has not been confirmed by Rockstar. GTA6 Online will support at least 32 players according to court documents, but whether PS5 and Xbox players can play together remains unconfirmed.
Who is Lucia in GTA6?
Lucia Caminos is one of the two playable protagonists in GTA6 and the first female lead in mainline GTA history. She is a Latina ex-convict from Leonida Penitentiary who partners with Jason Duval in a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style crime spree.
Who is Jason in GTA6?
Jason Duval is the second playable protagonist in GTA6. He is an Army veteran turned drug runner who works for Brian Heder in Vice City's underworld. He is Lucia's romantic and criminal partner.
How big is the GTA6 map compared to GTA5?
Community estimates place the GTA6 map at roughly 1.5 to 2 times the size of GTA5's map, making it the largest open world in Rockstar history. It features six distinct biomes and over 700 enterable interiors.
What is the GTA6 setting?
GTA6 is set in the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by Florida. The main city is Vice City (based on Miami), with additional regions including Grassrivers (Everglades), Leonida Keys (Florida Keys), Port Gellhorn, Mount Kalaga, and Ambrosia.
When do GTA6 pre-orders open?
GTA6 pre-orders went live on June 25, 2026. Both Standard ($79.99) and Ultimate ($99.99) editions are available on PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and major retailers. Pre-ordering includes the Vintage Vice City Pack.
Is there a GTA6 demo or beta?
No. Rockstar has not released a playable demo, a beta or a public test build of GTA6, and no public hands-on has been announced ahead of the November 19, 2026 launch. Preview sessions for press and creators have been watch-only walkthroughs guided by co-studio head Rob Nelson. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said on 16 September 2026 that the 27-minute Extended Look had "an element of tutorial baked in there", which suggests the presentation is intended to stand in for the tutorial a demo would normally provide. Any site offering a downloadable GTA6 demo is not Rockstar — Malwarebytes has documented fake demo pages delivering an information stealer.
Has Rockstar confirmed the GTA6 cast?
No. Rockstar has never officially named a single GTA6 cast member; Brian Heder's official character page credits no actor. Stephen Root confirmed to the Associated Press on 13 September 2026 that he is in the game — the first cast confirmation to come from a performer rather than the publisher — but he did not name the character, and reports identifying him as Brian Heder remain unofficial. Jason, Lucia and Cal Hampton are still attached only to widely reported, unconfirmed names.
Does GTA6 have a soundtrack album?
Yes. Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album with Atlantic Records on September 17, 2026 — 34 original tracks written for the game, released November 19, 2026, the same day as the game itself. Six singles are streaming now; the other 28 are unnamed. Physical editions (CD $19.98, vinyl $49.98, limited liquid-filled vinyl $124.98) ship from November 20. The album is not the in-game radio line-up: Rockstar says details of the dynamic score and the next evolution of in-game radio are still to come.
When is GTA6 Online coming out?
Nobody has announced one. Rockstar has never confirmed an online mode for GTA6 and has given no date, name or price for one. The game launches as a single-player title on November 19, 2026, with no co-op or multiplayer at launch. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said at the company’s annual meeting on September 17, 2026 that Take-Two will keep supporting GTA V Online, without saying for how long. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy said in a Bloomberg interview the same day that he expects multiplayer to arrive in 2027 — that is his forecast, not a Rockstar announcement. For scale, GTA Online launched two weeks after GTA5.
Is the September 2026 GTA6 leak real?
The 192GB Rockstar archive that surfaced on September 18, 2026 is genuine stolen material, but it is not a new breach and it is not the game. Insider Gaming traced it to the September 2022 intrusion by Arion Kurtaj of the Lapsus$ group, and the GTA6 files inside it are 2022-era map assets rendered at low quality. Almost everything verified so far is cancelled GTA V content: a scrapped Liberty City expansion, the shelved Agent Trevor DLC and cut missions. Rockstar and Take-Two have made no statement on its reappearance. It is a separate leak from the Cyberleek footage posted in August 2026, which Take-Two has pursued through DMCA subpoenas in New York. Nothing in the archive describes the build shipping on November 19, and file dumps circulating with leaks of this kind have a long record of carrying malware.
How many NPCs are in GTA6?
Rockstar has never given a number. The only animation figure it has published is over 600,000 animations in the game, against roughly 55,000 in GTA5 and 300,000 in Red Dead Redemption 2 — a total for the whole game covering player movement, cutscenes and animals as well as pedestrians, not a crowd count. What Rob Nelson has confirmed is that NPCs show wider height and body-shape variation than in any previous Rockstar game, achieved with a system that retargets animations at runtime to the proportions of the character performing them. Rockstar calls it the most densely populated world it has built, but has attached no figure to that.
What time does GTA6 unlock on release day?
Midnight local time in each region on November 19, 2026, not a single global moment. New Zealand plays first — midnight there is 11:00 UTC on 18 November, which is 03:00 Pacific, 05:00 Central and 06:00 Eastern, still 18 November in the United States. Digital pre-loading opens November 12 at local midnight, a week before launch. Rockstar has not explained why the unlock rolls rather than flipping everywhere at once, and has not said whether it rolls by time zone or by store region. On Xbox, changing the console region to New Zealand brings the unlock forward; on PS5 entitlement follows the account's store country, so the same move does nothing.
Was GTA6 playable at Tokyo Game Show 2026?
No. Sony's PlayStation booth at TGS 2026 (17–21 September, Makuhari Messe) ran the Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look Theater — a 300-inch screen showing the roughly 27-minute Extended Look with Sony floor haptics — alongside four hands-on demos for other games: Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Marvel's Wolverine and Ace Combat 8. GTA6 was not among the playable titles. Visitors who sat through the screening were given a free GTA6 T-shirt, size L only, and the giveaway hit capacity about ten minutes into the first public day. Rockstar has never offered a public hands-on for GTA6.
Can you mod GTA6?
Not yet, and not on console. GTA6 is announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, with no PC version confirmed, and modding needs a build a player can open. Rockstar published formal mod guidelines in September 2026 that also bar modifying a Rockstar game to run on hardware or platforms Rockstar never released it for, which rules out the console route. The same page leaves single-player mods that respect other people’s IP alone, including disabling anti-cheat in Story Mode, but prohibits mods that extend official stories, cross-title mashups, paid mods outside Rockstar’s Creator Platform, and crypto or real-money gambling in mods.
Is the GTA6 album vinyl sold out?
Partly. The $124.98 limited edition of GTA6: The Album — two transparent magenta records filled with blue liquid — sold out on the official store’s UK and EU storefronts shortly after pre-orders opened on 17 September 2026, while the US and international USD storefront still listed it at $124.98. The $49.98 standard vinyl and the $19.98 CD remained in stock. Resale listings for the limited edition have asked upwards of £300 against £108.99 UK retail, but no completed sale has been documented, the records do not ship until 20 November, and retailers still carry their own exclusive pressings.
Why is Take-Two removing GTA6 leak videos?
Because the material is copyrighted and was obtained by breaking in, not because the videos spoil GTA6. On 21 September 2026 Take-Two began having YouTube videos and social posts removed over the 2022 archive that surfaced on 18 September. The one strike with a named victim, reported by creator TJGM, hit a video containing a file list, a fan-made visualisation and a single line of cut GTA V dialogue — no GTA6 asset at all, which is consistent with how copyright enforcement works: a rightsholder that ignores a known infringement weakens its later claims. A takedown removes copies from platforms, not the archive itself. Take-Two has made no public statement, and how many videos were affected is not known.
Is there a GTA6 Collector’s Edition?
No. The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection went up for pre-order on 24 September 2026 at $399.99 in the US and £349.99 in the UK, and it contains 11 physical items with no copy of GTA6 and no download code — Rockstar’s own listing says the game is sold separately. It ships on 19 November 2026, the day the game unlocks, in limited quantity. There is no boxed edition with a disc either: the Standard Edition’s physical release holds a download code, and the Ultimate Edition is digital only.
Why are GTA6 pre-orders so skewed toward PS5?
Mostly because there are far more PS5s. Sony reports 95.3 million PS5 shipments through 30 June 2026, and third-party trackers put Xbox Series X|S near 35 million, a hardware base of roughly 73 to 27. Sensor Tower’s pre-order tracker puts the split at 77% PlayStation against 23% Xbox — about four points below Xbox’s share of the hardware, so the skew is real but close to what ownership alone predicts. Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball said on 24 September 2026 that Xbox’s share of pre-orders was matching its share of the console market, without publishing numbers, and did not dispute the skew. Neither Sony, Microsoft nor Take-Two has released verified pre-order or sales figures.
Who is paying for the Welcome to Vice City sign in Miami?
Rockstar pays the county, not the sign. Miami-Dade County is collecting $975,000 from Rockstar under a marketing agreement for the giant “Welcome to Vice City” lettering that a helicopter placed on the roof of the county-owned Kaseya Center on 22 September 2026. Mayor Daniella Levine Cava signed the agreement using her delegated authority for contracts under $1 million, so it never went to a county commission vote. The county intends to put the money towards developing Parcel B, the waterfront lot behind the arena, which has been promised as public space for years. The sum is therefore county revenue rather than Rockstar’s advertising budget: the cost of fabricating, lifting and later removing the sign has not been published. Documents seen by IGN give the sign a term of the later of one year from installation or the Miami Heat’s final home game of the 2026-27 season, on 11 April 2027, and an installation deadline of 15 October 2026.
Can you lose money in GTA6?
Yes, if you are carrying it. Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, described the system to the French magazine Trois Couleurs: GTA6 keeps a bank account and a separate amount of money on the character, and money you have not deposited disappears if you are killed. Depositing at an ATM is the protection, and it applies to both Jason and Lucia. Rockstar has not said whether the loss is capped, whether every death triggers it, or whether banked money can pay for everything cash can. The loss matters more than it would in an older GTA because money also gates main-story progress — some missions need a set amount of capital before they unlock — and because the campaign has no repeatable high-paying job to rebuild a balance quickly. The system has been described in interviews only, not shown in the Extended Look, so the tuning is not final before the 19 November 2026 launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Why is GTA6 missing from the Golden Joystick Awards?
Because the ceremony happens before the game is out. The Golden Joystick Awards 2026 shortlist was published on 25 September 2026 with GTA6 in no category: the ceremony is in London on 11 November, eight days before the 19 November launch, and voting in most categories closes on 23 October, with Ultimate Game of the Year voted on between 26 and 30 October. GTA6 will be eligible for the 2027 ceremony. Only two games have ever won all five major Game of the Year awards in their release year — Baldur’s Gate 3 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 — and both came out in the first half of the year, which a November launch makes impossible.
Is GTA6 eligible for The Game Awards 2026?
On the show’s usual rule, yes — by one day. The Game Awards 2026 takes place on 10 December 2026 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, and the eligibility cutoff has for years been the Friday of the third week of November: 21 November in 2025, which makes 20 November the equivalent date in 2026. GTA6 releases on 19 November 2026, one day inside that window. Two caveats. The show has not published its 2026 eligibility dates, only that they will be confirmed in the autumn. And the cutoff is not the binding constraint even so: the jury votes in the first half of November and nominees are announced in mid-November, so a game shipping on 19 November cannot have been played by the people nominating it.
Will GTA6 be censored in some countries?
Partly answerable now, and the answer changed in the first days of October. Read on 27 September 2026, the store record for Grand Theft Auto VI had every classification provisional: ESRB RP Mature (rating pending, Mature expected), PEGI 18P, CERO RP, the Australian board CTC and USK RP. Read on 2 October 2026, most of those fields have moved — the ESRB reads M, PEGI reads 18, the Australian board reads R18 and New Zealand reads R18 with descriptors attached — while CERO in Japan and USK in Germany still read RP. This answer previously said no region had a final classification; that was accurate on 27 September and is no longer. A final classification is not evidence that anything was cut, and a pending one is not evidence that anything will be: a board that has not decided has not decided whether an edited build is needed. The ESRB has published no record for the game, so the reasoning behind the seven American descriptors is not public, and its summary is the first place a cut would become visible when it appears. The seven regional codes that appeared in the Rockstar Store backend for the physical PS5 version in late September are order and shipping data — the same layer that records weight and a one-per-customer cap — rather than a record of content. The one documented regional difference in the box is Japan’s: the download code in a Japanese copy expires 170 days after the 19 November 2026 launch. Note that an age rating is not a censorship decision, and the seven descriptors attached to this game are the same seven the ESRB gave GTA5 on all three of that game’s records.
Is the GTA6 Collector’s Box sold out?
No. Read on 27 September 2026, three days after pre-orders opened, the Rockstar Store’s US SKU for The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection still returned can_be_bought: true with one unit available per account, and the product page still offered an Add to Cart. The box ships on 19 November 2026, the day the game unlocks, so no buyer has one yet. The eBay asks of $600 to $1,750 circulating since 26 September are asking prices against an open primary channel, with no completed sale documented, and Rockstar’s one-box-per-customer rule bounds how many units any single seller can hold. The box contains 11 physical items and no copy of the game, which Rockstar’s listing says is sold separately.
Why is Take-Two’s stock falling before GTA6 even launches?
As of the close on 25 September 2026, Take-Two shares were $201.44 — about 13% lower than a month earlier and roughly 24% below the 52-week high of $265.94, with the market capitalisation at $37.67 billion. Read the numbers by their windows rather than by the “nearly $6 billion” headline: measured from the 52-week high the fall is closer to $12 billion, from the pre-leak level in mid-August about $8.7 billion, and the leak week alone roughly $3 billion. The coverage blames the timing of the online mode, the mid-August footage leak and the $399.99 Collector’s Box. The only figure with a company source is Take-Two’s own guidance of $8.0 billion to $8.2 billion in net bookings for the fiscal year ending 31 March 2027, reaffirmed on 7 August 2026 — a year that a multiplayer launch in calendar 2027 would only partly fall inside. Of 29 analysts tracked, 28 rate the stock a buy and the average 12-month target is $286.44, about 42% above the price. Take-Two’s next results are due on 5 November 2026, fourteen days before the 19 November launch, and will contain no GTA6 revenue.
Will GTA6 have hurricanes?
Yes, and this answer changed on 29 September 2026. Rockstar is now on the record: in Game Informer’s issue 382, Owen Shepherd, the studio’s vice president of art for lighting and rendering, describes a weather system re-engineered to be “much more localized and persistent”, and tropical storms and hurricanes are confirmed to appear in the game. His description of a full storm: “Heavy clouds, strong winds, dense atmospherics, and a lot of rain combine so that everything is dripping wet, water is gushing off roof edges and lampposts, thunder rumbles, and flashes of lightning light up the clouds dramatically.” Weather is regional — sunshine in one part of Leonida with rain falling in another — and it leaves traces, so ground stays wet and puddles and rainbows appear after a storm has moved on. Two things are still unpublished, and both decide whether storms are a set-piece or a hazard: how often a major storm occurs, and whether weather affects missions or the story. Until the issue shipped, the only public text on the subject was the magazine’s cover-reveal post, written in the first person by its writer describing which features his interviews covered, which is why this site treated the 28 September hurricane wave as unsourced at the time. GTA6 launches on 19 November 2026, inside the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs until 30 November.
Does GTA6 have fast travel?
Yes, through the ride-share app RydeMe. Game Informer’s issue 382, read on 29 September 2026, describes using RydeMe to reach another part of Leonida as a ride rather than a loading screen: you can talk to the driver and to other passengers sharing the trip, listen to radio stations carrying new licensed music, and scroll the in-game social feed on the phone while the car moves. Rockstar has also documented buses boarded at real stops, trains and taxis. GTA5 allowed unrestricted cab travel to any waypoint, while Red Dead Redemption 2 restricted fast travel to towns you had already visited. GTA6 launches 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
How do the police track you in GTA6?
Through a heat layer that records what officers actually know, not just how wanted you are. The markers, documented from the 27 August 2026 Extended Look and the July press sessions at Rockstar North, are camera footage, outfit, face, weapon, vehicle and whether Jason and Lucia were seen together, and each has a matching action that clears it — wipe the tape, change clothes, change your hair or mask up early, stash the gun, and ditch or respray the car. Splitting the two protagonists up during a chase is reported to remove a wanted star. Police and enemies no longer appear on the minimap; a Focus ability shows officers temporarily, including through walls. Star colours carry four states: solid for line of sight, flashing for contact just broken, hollow for a report with no description, and red for a search zone you are still inside. Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson described the principle on the record to Trois Couleurs on 27 August 2026 — police know what you are wearing, but a car they did not see you take does not link to you — and hedged it himself: “I should be able to pass” is an expectation, not a guarantee.
Is Orlando in GTA6, and will there be a Disney World parody?
Rockstar has neither confirmed nor denied it. Asked directly in Game Informer’s issue 382, published on 29 September 2026, whether Florida’s central region — Orlando’s theme parks and the Space Coast — would appear in the game in some form, Rockstar’s senior vice president of environment art, Paul MacPherson, answered with a policy rather than a ruling: the team weighs the state’s landscapes, towns, structures, landmarks, plant species and rock formations, then distils the list with design and narrative until it serves the game, “so, while we may not have those exact locations”, everything is geared to “that full Florida experience”. No attraction is named and none is ruled out — the wide headlines saying GTA6 “won’t include” Disney World or Universal are the relays’ wording, not Rockstar’s. The positive evidence is geographic, in the same feature: the real places Rockstar names are Miami, the Everglades and the Florida Keys in the south, and Panama City, Jacksonville, Ocala and the Florida–Georgia line — in-game, the Leonida–Gloriana line — in the north, which leaves central Florida in neither list, and none of the six confirmed regions stands in for Orlando. Precedent points the same way: the pier in GTA5 has a working roller coaster and Ferris wheel, but it is an attraction rather than a park, and GTA4’s Funland is closed and derelict. GTA6 launches on 19 November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X and S.
What is GTA6 rated?
Mature 17+ in the United States, and 18 in Europe and Australia. Rockstar’s own Grand Theft Auto VI page began showing the ESRB Mature mark on 1 October 2026, with seven content descriptors — blood and gore, intense violence, mature humor, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, use of drugs and alcohol — and a single interactive element, In-Game Purchases. Read on 2 October 2026, the store record also carries final values for PEGI 18, the Australian R18+ and the New Zealand R18, where those same fields had read pending days earlier. The seven descriptors are word for word the set the ESRB assigned to GTA5 on all three of that game’s records, so they do not show that this game goes further than the last one: a descriptor is a category the board assigns, not an inventory of scenes. Two systems still read RP — CERO in Japan and USK in Germany — and the ESRB has published no record or summary for the game, which is the document that describes specific scenes. The Australian and New Zealand listings name sex scenes, where the American text says strong sexual content. The purchase label is separate from the descriptors: it covers extra content, upgrades and virtual currency among other things, and the block carries no user-interaction marker, which is the line the ESRB applies when players can meet each other. GTA6 launches 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
Does Take-Two’s new Xbox deal cover future Xbox consoles?
The filing does not say. Take-Two disclosed on 30 September 2026 a new XBOX Publisher License Agreement with Microsoft, effective 17 September and signed 28 September, which grants the right to “develop, publish, have manufactured, market, advertise, distribute and sell XBOX compatible products for all XBOX devices” and supersedes and replaces all of the company’s existing Xbox publisher licence agreements. It names no console, no handheld and no game — GTA6 is not mentioned in it at all — and it never states how long the agreement runs beyond the adjective “long-term”. The full text is to be filed as an exhibit to Take-Two’s Form 10-Q for the quarter ending 30 September 2026, which is where a term, a royalty rate and any product schedule would appear. The filing does describe how money moves: Microsoft pays Take-Two the wholesale price or agreed revenue share for digitally delivered products, while Microsoft charges Take-Two fees and royalties for each physical media product manufactured on its behalf. GTA6 itself is announced only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, launching 19 November 2026.
Why did PEGI remove its GTA6 rating page?
PEGI has not said, and neither has Rockstar. A full listing for Grand Theft Auto VI appeared on the board’s site on 2 October 2026 carrying an 18 and a long written description of the game’s content, and by that afternoon the address returned a not-found notice; IGN, which read the page before it went, timestamped the removal to 2 October at 11:39 a.m. Pacific and reported asking PEGI for comment without getting a reply. The detail on the page mattered less than the coverage implied, because a PEGI entry is a four-section document rather than a badge — advice for consumers, a brief outline of the game, content specific issues and other issues — and the board’s live entry for GTA5, read on 4 October 2026, still prints scenes of torture, incendiary bullets that set characters on fire, the same two strong profanities and the production of methamphetamine in a lab. For a buyer the removal changes nothing: the UK and European badge was already PEGI 18 in the store metadata read on 2 October, and GTA6 still launches 19 November 2026 with pre-load from 12 November. What it does change is whether the wording can be checked at its source, because PEGI’s public search returned 51 results for “grand theft auto” on 4 October 2026 and none of them was Grand Theft Auto VI, while the ESRB register holds no record for the game either.
Has Sam Houser given a GTA6 interview?
No, and the one that was arranged has been cancelled. On 3 October 2026 the GQ writer Sam White said publicly that a profile of Rockstar co-founder and president Sam Houser would not happen, after four years of conversations with the company, a confirmation from Rockstar in April that Houser would sit for it, and a reversal in the past few weeks that he attributed to reasons that were “mostly personal”. Rockstar has issued no statement and no replacement has been announced, so the fact of the cancellation comes from the journalist and the reason comes from nobody. Sam Houser’s on-the-record interviews amount to a handful over more than two decades and almost all of them fall in or beside a launch window, such as the 2013 Sunday Times interview days before GTA5 shipped and an interview in Grand Theft Auto IV’s shipping week in 2008. For this campaign Rockstar has put its staff on the record instead: Aaron Garbut was named in Game Informer’s issue 382 on 29 September 2026, and Rob Nelson, Rupert Humphries, Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern, Alexa D’Agostino and the writing director James Horton were named or quoted in LOVE’s issue 27 from 2 October 2026.
